Membrane modelling

13 June - 1.5m wing on the zip wire

Perfect calm sunny day today, so got the 1.5m wing up on the zip wire. Could only get it up to 5 m/s, but at that speed very little flutter. Think I have the makings of a wing for the flying model. Graph shows the speed trace – time alone the bottom  in 0.1 second…

Flights of fancy

I am Colin Palmer. A long time ago I wanted to be a yacht designer, but instead I spent much of my working life in renewable energy. More recently I was lucky enough to be able to do a part time PhD on pterosaur flight and have become fascinated by the evolution of vertebrate flight in general. This website presents some of that work and I hope you will help me with comments and questions.
